DIY: framing pictures with printer foil and washi tape

Before I started blogging, I promised myself never to write a sewing DIY. I'm not a seamstress, but this I was able to make all by myself. I was looking for a way to frame my pictures without heavy wooden frames and glass, something mobile and flexible. Especially my new serie of beetles needed something special. I printed them on fine tissue paper, and I wanted them to be protected, but without loosing their delicacy.

Bevor ich angefangen habe zu bloggen habe ich mir geschworen, nie ein Näh-DIY zu machen. Ich bin keine Näherin, aber das habe ich alleine hinbekommen. Ich war auf der Suche nach einer Möglichkeit, Bilder ohne schweren Rahmen und Glas zu rahmen, mobil und flexibel. Besonders für meine neue Käfer-Serie brauchte ich etwas anderes. Ich habe sie auf Seidenpapier gedruckt und wollte sie schützen, aber ohne dass sie ihre Zartheit verlieren.

I took two transparent printer foils (turn the raw side inside), put the paper in bewteen and sewed them together. For the beetles, I used striped black and white washi tape, too, and made the stitches a bit rough, but you can do it neat and nicely, too, like the picture above shows. I used zig-zag, because I liked the additional element. Instead of washi tape, of course you can use braids or remnants. I didn't sew around all four sides, just along one side.
Ich habe zwei transparente Druckerfolien genommen (die rauhe Seite nach innen), das Papier dazwischengelegt und sie zusammengenäht. Für die Käfer habe ich zusätzlich gestreiftes, schwarz-weißes Washitape verwendet und die Stiche rau und unregelmäßig gemacht, aber man kann es natürlich auch sauber und ordenlich machen; wie das Bild oben zeigt. Ich habe Zickzackstich verwendet, weil er mir als zusätzliches Element gefiel. Statt Washitape kann man natürlich auch Stoffreste oder Bänder nehmen. Ich habe nicht rundherum genäht, nur eine Seite entlang.

You can see that the texture of the fabric is visible through the framed pictures. They are that lightweight that you can use just a piece of washi tape to hang them on the wall.

Man kann sehen, wie die Textur des Stoffes durch die die gerahmten Bilder sichtbar ist. Sie sind so leicht, dass man sie einfach mit einem Stück Washitape an der Wand befestigen kann. Das Ganze geht so schnell und einfach, ich muss aufpassen, dass ich nicht übertreibe ...
