Friday food photo: corn

Corncobs always remind me of the end of summer - and a story from long ago. When I studied, one of the semester projects was creating ads for vegetable tins. In German, corn is called 'Mais' and you write it exactly as the French word for 'but'. So I texted a brilliant headline 'MAIS OUI', but failed because my prof didn't get the play of words.
Nevertheless, I love corncobs since I learned how to prepare them 'al dente'. Cook them in water without salt for about 20 minutes (I leave the last skins around the cob while cooking) and afterwards, roast in a pan for a few minutes, with or without some olive oil. I like it best with some yoghurt with Arabian spices!

It's just amazing how you can take a simple corncob and turn it into art! Love!
