Typo Thursday: icons

These are some icons I developed for my lecture second to last weekend (it went really great, btw). I worked with lots of pictures and icons instead of text, and my audience loved it. The stomac with the band aid got really popular, and I'm sure that my listeners will remember the pictures much longer than any presentation that would have used text instead. One single icon is able to replace lots of texts, that's why  this Typo Thursday is about signs. In Germany, Otl Aicher is the 'father' of the modern version of pictograms, since he developed the icons for the Summer Olympic Games in 1972. But when I was in Freiburg, I realized that emblems and shops signs signal since centuries: here you'll get bread, medicine or other things. And coat arms symbolize the origin and meaning of families, kings or states.

How fascinating! I so agree....they always say a picture is worth a thousand words! :) So happy to hear your lecture was a success! Great job!
