Nach den unglaublichen Ausschreitungen an Silvester hier in Köln haben sich heute Hunderte von Frauen am Bahnhof versammelt, um gegen die Gewalt gegen Frauen zu demonstrieren. Ich hätte mir mehr Frauen gewünscht, und auch mehr Männer, aber es war trotzdem ein klares Zeichen dafür, dass etwas geschehen muss.

Diesmal war die Polizeipräsenz groß - was lustig wäre, wenn es nicht so traurig wäre. Bei Astrid, die neben mir kräftig mitgesungen und -gelärmt hat, findet Ihr einen wunderbaren Post zu allen Hintergründen - mir fehlen nach wie vor die Worte.

Here in Cologne happened unbelievable things in the new year's night at our main station. Hundreds of men encircled women, pushed them away, robbed them, and groped them massively. Obviously there was a masterplan behind that - men had grouped together to do this planfully. This is a new dimension. The police was helpless, and it took several days until the news about what really happened surfaced. The first police reports stated: a peaceful night. Meanwhile, there's more than 120 complaints - of women, all that happened within one or two hours. And there's little chance that the offenders will be caught. Offenders who live in our midst (I don't want to stress the fact that most of them most probably live at our expenses).

Women are afraid. I am, too. We met at the station today, lots of women, to set a sign against sexism. This has to change.
